Box Hill Hospital is a public teaching hospital. Both Dr Cheng and Dr Kang are now training future generation of young surgeons to sub-specialise in bariatric (weight loss) surgery.
Our Team
In addition to surgeons, we also have specialist bariatric GP and dietitian in house. We work as a team to provide a comprehensive care to your needs.
Our Bariatric GP
Our bariatric GP has special interest in weight loss management.
Dr Chun also works as an assistant surgeon to many bariatric surgeons in Melbourne.
Therefore he had great insight not only with weight loss medications, but also much better understanding of your surgery and all the details involved.
This knowledge is extremely valuable, especially in your long term follow up and trouble shooting if ever required.
Bariatric Dietitian
Our bariatric dietitian has special focus in looking after your nutrition needs and dietary requirements specific to bariatric surgery.
Different to general dietitian, she works closely with our surgeons and has great understanding of what’s required for your surgery and recovery, as well as your long term nutritional requirements.
We offer complimentary dietitian reviews before and after surgery.
We also provide free ongoing dietitian support if you have valid ‘chronic health management plan’ with your GP.
We work closely with a network of other health professionals and will help you organise prioritised access to early appointments if required, especially in the area of psychology support, respiratory care and endocrinology (diabetes) care.
We understand sometimes it’s not possible to see us in person and there are occasions that you want a quick answer without waiting too long for your appointment.
We offer options of Telehealth appointments with our GP, dietitian and surgeons.
So you can have the convenience of completing your consultations via mobile or video conference calls such as Zoom meeting.
We will provide you with contact details of your surgeons, such as emails or mobile when required, so you can contact them directly for urgent inquiries.
Our Facebook support group is run by our surgeons and dieticians and is exclusive to our patients.
You will be able to post questions anonymously or share your experience in a supportive environment.
